| God Whispers to us. Unemployment can be a 'wake up call' from God to bring to our attention areas of our life that He wants to transform. Rather than view it as punitive, think of it as redemptive. Being put on the shelf is punitive, but being put in the 'shop' is restorative. My son is rebuilding and restoring an old Honda CL175. It hasn't been started for almost 30 years. But he is painstakingly reducing the engine to nothing but parts to rebuild and restore the bike to a fully running and useful machine. God's character is to take people like Moses, David, the apostle Paul, Peter, and many others through a time of training, testing, and yes, even deprivation to bring them to a place of usefulness, humility, and reliance upon Him. This process of maturing as a Christian called sanctification is a life-long process. He has a plan. God may have placed us in a position of unemployment not only to draw us closer to Him, but to also set us apart for His calling upon our lives. Maybe there is something much bigger than a job ahead. Trusting God means walking by faith, not by sight. Scott is the pastor of Paonia Christian Fellowship in Paonia, CO. The music used for the video is Jennifer's Song by Hagood Hardy from the album The Homecoming. I hope all who watch this little video will be blessed by it. Glen :-) |
