If you are activly advertising your website, business or blog you are going to come across many websites that tell you to sign up now for only $XXX dollars and you can advertise to their paid members. Why advertise to paid members? Because paid members have money and they want to see your ads, this means they are serious about buying your products so join now! The problem with this business model is that it is about to slap another guy right in the face. This happens thousands of times per day, people get sucked into paying good money to advertise their website, business or blog to a bunch of other people with the exact same intentions... You got advertisers - advertising - to advertisers so it happens over and over again and again.
You always want to know the target audience of the 'paid members' you will be advertising to, in that example listed above it's a great place to advertise products and services other advertisers can use to boost their own businesses but a terrible place to try and sell your hand crafts.
Now it is possible to have great success with this especially if your ad reaches the eye of an affiliate marketer -- affiliate marketers are great especially if your product is something they can resell easily OR will enhance a product they are currently selling. For an example, I join mailing lists and paid programs all the time that offer me advertising; if I see any product or service that 'I gotta get right now!', being a successful affiliate marketer THAT'S the product or service I'm going to buy THEN resell because I know it will make me money.
I'll use WorldProfitUniversity.com as another example and let you know why it's such a big hit especially with affiliate marketers.

#2. The potential income stream from a single sale is mind blowing, there is nothing else like it anywhere.
#3. They receive unlimited free advertising for any of their same niche products and services to real paid members AND visitors. Every sale they make earns recurring monthly income and creates an exponentially growing downline with more sales, it also advertises all their other products to a paid member base which in turn removes the need to use auto responders and hassle people for emails.
So in closing just because you are advertising to paid members doesn't mean you will make any more sales unless you are offering them the proper product or service(targeted marketing). Keep in mind when advertsing to other advertisers that if you can grow their business, they will grow yours.

Now the real kicker to watch out for is 'do you get paid directly or not', if not there is a HIGH chance the admin will peace out with your money because there is usually a reason you don't pay each other directly... Don't get me wrong there ARE lots of good admins who run these programs so I'm not pointing any fingers or bashing. A good admin is the guy who launches the program, pays everyone he is supposed to, makes a few dollars for himself and then opens a new site when he sees that his client pool has dried up.
And some food for thought, if you know a good admin who runs these types of programs on a regular basis, slip him $20 bucks and tell him to tell you the instant he reveals his next project because as you know whomever gets in first makes all the money :- )
